This project happily reunited me with a couple of past clients. Recently retired, they decided to leave the city to purchase a home away from the chaos.
He is an amazing chef and needed a kitchen that would be a pleasure to cook in. She wanted it to look spectacular. I changed the the old separate kitchen, eating area, and living room to a functional, welcoming open-concept space. White cabinetry with transitional Shaker doors brightens the space and gives the look of well-crafted furniture. Solid posts punctuate the island, and marble hexagon tiles finish the backsplash. The countertops are beautiful quartz by Caesar Stone, and a dark hardwood floor grounds the space.
The focal point is the chef’s home base, the island. It’s designed for serious cooking, with rich dark walnut surrounding the high-performance Wolf gas cooktop. All the storage in the island was designed for the client’s specialty pots and pans, cooking utensils, spices and oils. Within easy reach of the island are the 36” Subzero fridge and Wolf double wall ovens.
