Open Concept Home Interior Design

This uniquely styled home greets visitors with beautiful koi ponds and two large, loving dogs. The interior of the house is simple and open-concept to show off the clients’ amazing art work. They love their dogs and they love to entertain, so they need their kitchen to be sleek, contemporary, and functional.

The original footprint did not change, and I kept the original slate flooring.  Some of the appliances remained and some were purchased new. The feature wall needed to house a steam oven, double wall ovens, a fridge, and all-important storage—with ovens lower than usual to accommodate the clients’ height.  I painted slab cabinet doors white for the appliance wall and paneled the fridge. You will notice the appliances and cabinets are all framed out with 1¼” frames and the appliances sit flush with the face of the cabinets for that sleek look.

I chose to finish the remainder of the kitchen in a flat-panel rift-cut oak stained a dark espresso to bring out some of the elements in the floor. White quartz countertops provide contrast.

The clients’ last-minute request was the movable island with its stainless steel countertop. The island has casters for easy movement, so it readily turns into a bar for entertaining large groups.

Project designed for Troico Home Solutions & Manufacturing.
